Java MTB Challenge - Van Loveren

10/04/2014
Once again, Rotarians prove that they are a force to contend with! 18 of us (Rotary members, associate members, past members and friends of Rotary formed the core squad) with the assistance provided by the McGregor young people, of whom some are scholars at Langeberg High School, the Breede Valley Training Center and some experienced helpers from the Exelsior farm labour force, we made up a total of 38 marshals

This is only the second time that the race has been held, and already it is an ambitious event which includes the concurrent running of 5 events (experienced cyclists, novices, family entries - a category to cater for everyone!)

The mountain bike race was the brainchild of Vera, to raise funds for the Preparatory School in Robertson. Her husband is a 4 times Epic Rider who builds mountain bike courses. Van Loveren accepted the challenge to partner and used the opportunity to extend the fundraising to include other organisations.
Hospice and Rotary were also beneficiaries through the support they provided this year.
